Part 1: Fix It! File Transfer Suddenly Stops in Windows 10
Data transfer is one of the greatest virtues of digital information. To transfer information from one place to another you just need to establish a compatible connection between two devices and/or computers. The connection can be via an information transfer cable or a wireless connection such as Bluetooth or the Internet. Thanks to this, you can transfer information in a very easy way with just a couple of clicks.
Q: "Why does data transfer stop?"
If for some reason, the connection is interrupted during the data transfer process, it is most likely that the process will be interrupted since the information will be incomplete and generally, this also makes it unusable. It is also important to keep in mind that the data that is transferred is usually analyzed in real-time by the antivirus to prevent the transfer of any malicious software, in case your antivirus detects any harmful software, the transfer process would be stopped.
Some other reasons can cause this failure, such as damaged storage units, compatibility errors due to storage device format, outdated drivers, etc., but don't worry, all these problems are simple to solve and, in most cases, it will only take just a couple of minutes.
Part 2: Six Methods of Solving File Transfer Suddenly Stop in Windows 10
Next, I will explain in detail how to solve some of the most common problems related to failure during data transfer.
Method 1: Disable Remote Differential Compression
Step 1: Go to "Programs and Features".
To access the Windows 10 Control Panel, you must press the Win key and type "Control Panel". Once this is done, you have to click on its shortcut. Once the "Control Panel" tool is open, click on "Programs and Features".
Step 2: Click on "Turn Windows features on or off"
In the "Programs and Features" section you can see the option "Turn Windows features on or off", click on it.
Step 3: Disable "Remote Differential Compression API Support" tool
Once you have opened the "Turn Windows features on or off" tool, search for "Remote Differential Compression API Support" and uncheck the box which is located next to it.
Step 4: Click on "OK" to save the changes.
If you have already disabled the "Remote Differential Compression API Support" tool, click on "Ok" to confirm and then exit.
Method 2: Disable Indexing of your Drives
Step 1: Go to "This PC"
You can find this option by pressing the Windows key and typing "This PC".
Step 2: Open the "Properties" of your drive
Right, click on the drive you want to disable its index feature and click on "Properties".
Step 3: Disable the Index option by unchecking the box
Go to the bottom of the window and find the Index option, once you have found it, uncheck its box and after that click on "Apply". Tick the second option and click on "Ok"
This will disable the indexing process of any file stored in the drive.
Method 3: Update All Drivers
Step 1: Open the "Device Manager"
Go to the Windows menu and type "Device Manager", then click on its icon.
Step 2: Click on "Update Driver Software"
Select the device and right-click on it, this will open an option list, then click on "Update Driver Software".
Step 3: Click on "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Remember that you must have an internet connection, this online process will automatically search the most recent and compatible drivers for your hardware.
Step 4: Wait until the process finish and click on "close"
Once the process has finished, the tool will display the result of the process, then click on "Close".
Method 4: Run Disk Defragmenter on both Drives
Step 1: Open the "Defragment and Optimize Drives" tool
Go to the Win menu and type "Defragment", then click on the "Defragment and Optimize Drives" icon.
Step 2: Analyze the Drive
Select the drive and click on "Analyze", this process is complex and detailed, so it should take several minutes to recognize all the fragmented sectors.
Step 3: Click on "Optimize"
Once the analyzation process has finished, you will be able to click on "Optimize" and once it has concluded, you can click on "Close". (This process may take several minutes to optimize the drive).
Method 5: Format the Drive (to which you are copying data) in NTFS
Step 1: Open the "Manage" tool
You can find this option by right-clicking on the "This PC" icon at the left panel.
Step 2: Click on "Format"
Once you have opened the "Manage" tool, you will have to click on the "Disk Management" section located at the left side list, then, select the drive you need to convert into NTFS and right-click on it to open the option list, then click on "Format".
Step 3: Set the features
You can name the drive as you want by typing on the "Volume label" section, then choose NTFS as a format in the dropdown list of "File system". Once you have set up the features, click on "Ok" to start the conversion process.
Step 4: Confirm the process
Remember that the formatting process will delete all the data stored in the drive, so, please confirm the process only if you have already made a backup. If you haven't made it and you do format, the recovery process may be complicated if you don't have the correct tools.
Method 6: Disabling Antivirus and Windows Defender
Step 1: Open "Windows Security settings"
Go to the Windows menu and type "Windows Security", then click on "Windows Security Settings".
Step 2: Go to "Virus & threat protection"
In the "Protection areas" section, click on "Virus & threat protection".
Step 3: Go to "Manage Settings"
You can find this option below the "Virus & threat protection settings".
Step 4: Disable all the protection tools
Turn off by clicking on the switch icon; you can see that there are many protection options, so you must scroll down to disable all of them.
Part 3: Recover data
If the above methods were not enough to solve the data transfer problem, you are likely to be afraid of losing your information, whether you cannot export it or even if it was damaged due to interrupted transfer processes. This problem is quite simple to solve with the help of professional data recovery software.

Closing Words
As you may have noticed, sudden data transfer interruption problems are simple to solve and are usually related to a configuration problem, either because of an Antivirus / Windows Defender problem or a reading/writing configuration problem of the operating system, however, regardless of the cause of the problem, these troubles can damage your information and this may generate an even bigger problem which will be more complex to solve. Fortunately, you can use Recoverit to recover and/or repair the information of any storage device in a very easy, quick, and practical way.
